Why do I have a feeling that these will be decently rare in another 10 years... ?

They probably will be, a lot of people beating on them will make them rare. Plus Ford paint so rust will set in.

Is Ford paint notoriously bad? And are they notoriously rust prone? IDK I live in Georgia where even old Dodge Sprinter vans are rust free.
Also, how ya holding up since your last post?

Their paint is very thin and chips easily, but the worst of the problems is that it tends to bubble and peel off their aluminum body panels. So, they might not rust away, but they will look really shitty.

Hmm I don’t recall any Fords I know that have any paint issues, especially given their Japanese counterparts. What era of Ford are we talking here?

They haven’t seemed to have the best luck with aluminum body panels and paint adhesion in the past . I’m not sure how prevalent this has been in reality , but it seems to be a common enough topic online.

I think a lot of people who bought Focus ST's are the same type of people who bought Neon SRT4's 10 years earlier, so yeah, you're probably right.

I’ll keep my eye out. . . and soon notice a Ford with crap paint at every stoplight.

The front brake dust is due to the brake vectoring instead of an LSD. The rear soot is due to a catless downpipe.

Mustangs, Expeditions, Explorers, some Tauruses ca. mid '00s-present. You haven't heard about it because Ford has never issued a recall or TSB, got the class action lawsuit thrown out, and does not cover any of the repairs under warranty. Though they do occasionally fix one of the SUVs for 50-50 cost match if the owner and dealership complain enough.

I was dead set on buying one of these when I graduated in 2014. But somehow I ended up with a Miata instead. Primarily it was avoiding a car payment right out of college. And boy was I glad to put the other ~$15k into paying loans down instead. Sure has saved me interest in the long run I imagine. It definitely is a car that appeals to me though, considering I now also have an STi. The subaru is more raw and I appreciate the looks more anyways. But I still have a longing for a Focus ST.

It’s the second (and beyond) owners. The first owners weren’t bad.
But they also get wrecked frequently. One without a salvage title will still be pretty rare.

Ones with clean titles will be extremely rare. These get wrecked so frequently...

I agree. Any one of these that isn’t driven into the ground will be a desirable car in a decade.
